This site is a free calculator tool. You don't create an account, enter a name, or provide an email address to use it. The numbers you type into the calculator stay in your browser. We never see them.
What information we collect
When you use the RealContractorPay calculator, all inputs — your hourly rate, salary, state, filing status — are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. None of that data is transmitted to our servers. We have no database of user inputs, no record of what you typed, and no way to identify what calculations you ran.
The only information we may collect comes through standard web server logs and third-party analytics (if enabled), which may include:
- Your IP address (typically anonymized or truncated)
- The browser and operating system you're using
- The page you visited and how long you stayed
- The page that referred you to this site
This is standard information that virtually every website receives when you visit. It does not identify you personally, and we do not use it to track you across other websites.
Cookies and tracking
RealContractorPay does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral profiling. If we use analytics software (such as a privacy-focused analytics tool), it may set a minimal first-party cookie to distinguish sessions. We do not use Google Analytics' default advertising features, Facebook Pixel, or similar cross-site tracking technology.
If you click a link to an affiliate partner — currently Gusto or Collective — that partner's website will apply its own cookies and tracking practices, which are governed by their own privacy policies. We have no control over what those sites do once you arrive there.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up for a service, we may receive a commission. This comes at no extra cost to you. The affiliate relationship does not affect how we describe or evaluate those products — we only link to services we'd genuinely recommend to a contractor.
We disclose affiliate relationships clearly on every page where they appear. We are a participant in affiliate programs operated by Gusto, Collective, and potentially other services. We are not paid to place or rank these services in any particular order, and we do not accept payment for editorial coverage.
If you email us
If you send an email to hello@realcontractorpay.com, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use that information only to respond to you. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent, and we do not share your email with third parties.
We currently do not operate a newsletter or email marketing program. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide a clear opt-in process.
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell personal data. We do not share user data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. The only circumstances under which we would disclose information about a user are:
- If required by law, court order, or valid legal process
- If necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of RealContractorPay or others
- If the site is acquired by another entity, in which case we would notify users and honor the commitments made in this policy
Third-party services
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you visit. Google may log that request. If you prefer to avoid this, browser extensions like uBlock Origin will block those requests. We have no control over Google's data practices.
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Hostinger's infrastructure processes requests to this site as part of standard web hosting. Their data handling is governed by their own privacy policy.
Your rights
Because we collect so little information about visitors, there is generally little to exercise rights over. However, if you believe we hold personal data about you — for example, from an email you sent — you may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR. We aim to honor those rights regardless of where you are located.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your privacy protections without notice. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
